OLIVIA'S LIGHT
Dedicated to helping families who have lost a loved one to suicide.

Olivia was a smart, sassy, spunky girl who was never afraid to speak her mind. She had to be as she was sandwiched between her older brother Marc and her younger brother Luke. When she was three years old she had no problem yelling at a much older girl for taking her flowers and she was always sure to put her brothers in line when needed. She loved helping others, whether it be babysitting or lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Her ability to take care of others didn’t go unnoticed as was evidenced by her art teacher asking her to help an autistic boy in her class which she gladly did, of course. She loved it so much that being a special ed teacher was on her radar when it came to choosing a career. The young Olivia was in love with princesses, ballet and the color pink. As she grew she shed her girly persona and developed a love for basketball, rugby, and kickboxing and she excelled in all. Olivia especially loved playing Christmas music in October, roller coasters, and she was forever creating a new piece of art. She was so creative and we treasure every piece of artwork she left behind. The loss of Olivia is a tough one to handle. She left a hole in the hearts of those that love her and our lives will never be the same. We continue to move forward however, trying to make sense of her loss by helping others and ensuring her loss is not in vain.

ABOUT OLIVIA'S LIGHT
Olivia’s Light is dedicated to helping others that have lost a loved one to suicide by offering care packages to those in need. Suicide is such an unbelievably horrific and devastating event which forever changes the lives of the family and others who knew and loved the departed. The day we lost our beloved daughter Olivia at age 16, I was in a state of shock, disbelief and immediately felt alone and isolated. It’s my hope these care packages will convey the message to survivors of a suicide loss that they are not alone.
Olivia would have made such a wonderful, positive difference in this world if only she had stayed. She was a bright light in an otherwise dim world. With her determination and confidence, I know she would have reached any goal she set and would have excelled in anything she put her mind to. It’s in Olivia’s memory that I’ve established this website and developed the desire to help others that have been affected by suicide. It’s my hope to create something good while honoring our Olivia.
Please refer to the order page to request a care package for a family in need. Although we can never comprehend the grief and pain one is suffering, we can provide a gift that will offer comfort and support when needed most.

REQUEST A CARE PACKAGE

On This Day Three Years Ago

Can I stop time on a Tuesday?
You are laughing as I am singing
The angels of comfort sit with me in my lonely
Wrap around, take a hold of my heart
How to make ready for the new year, new decade
when I don’t want to have to know you this way
Let’s hold the sun before it sets over Schenley Park

I want to slow the film down to a freeze frame
An invisible voice ghost-whispers into my heart
Don’t cry, Aunt Ronnie, I’m okay
If I could have held on to you forever
take your hand as we glide across the ice
I would give my heart and soul for you
so you would not have to cry alone
I am not okay without you
I am holding your hand
You are holding mine
Your fear seems to hide
You choose to crossover your own way
This river of regrets
I don’t want to know you this way
Not this river, not this river of sorrow
Everything I do, you are in my heart
Every thought I have, you are with me
Every word I speak, my love for you
The angels of comfort are singing

Will you forgive me?
Hold your hand in mine
My hand in yours
A river of tears from a lifetime
One day this river will freeze
and I will travel by ice to you
skate and fly away, teach my feet to fly
Stretch my hand out and reach for you
